Two tips to follow when getting a security alarm system for your business premises

Here are two tips to follow when getting a security alarm system for your premises.

Consider getting a system that you can operate with your phone and other devices

You should consider getting an alarm system that you can operate with your phone, laptop and other devices (using each device's internet connection) as this could make the use of this system much easier for you and your staff members. For example, if someone in one of the buildings beside your commercial property calls you to tell you that the alarm has been set off on your empty premises by a stray cat tripping one of the sensors, you could immediately turn off the alarm through one of your devices, from wherever you happen to be, instead of having to drive to the property to do this. This would not only be more convenient for you but would also reduce the amount of time that your neighbours have to put up with listening to the alarm going off.

Likewise, if an employee who was supposed to switch on the alarm after closing the premises calls you after they've left, to tell you they forgot to do this, you could set the premises' alarm system through your phone, without having to travel to the building to do this in person.

Being able to access and control your premises' security system through the internet connection on your devices could also allow you to monitor your property more effectively. You could, for example, access the live footage being taken by the CCTV cameras with your devices whenever you wanted to. If you were to ever spot something suspicious, you could adjust the camera angle settings with your device, to get a better look at whatever it is that looks concerning to you and then if needed, take action.

Consider your premises' location when deciding if you need a monitored system

If you're not sure if you need your premises' new security system to be monitored, you should consider the property's location. If for example, your premises are in a rural area, where there are very few other occupied properties, then a monitored security system might give you peace of mind, as you would know that if any burglar were to set off the alarm system, the staff at the nearest monitoring centre would be alerted and would take action. If in this isolated setting, your premises' system wasn't monitored, there would be very little chance of anyone nearby hearing the alarm sounding and ringing the authorities.

Conversely, if your commercial property is in a densely populated city centre location,  where there are lots of other businesses in operation and plenty of local residents, the likelihood of no one noticing a break-in and your premises' alarm going off would be very low. In this busy setting, there would be a good chance of at least one person phoning the authorities. As such, it would be safer to opt for an unmonitored system in this situation.
