The Benefits of Hiring a Security Guard for Your Event

Posted on

Planning an event comes with a lot of organisation and preparation. After all your efforts, it would be a shame for everything to fall to pieces because you don't have the right security. Here are some of the key benefits of hiring a security guard for your event.

Prevent Gatecrashers

If you're organising an event there's a chance it has a degree of exclusivity to it. Depending on the size of the venue, you may also be restricted in how many people you can allow in. Whether the event is a ticketed function or a private arrangement, you'll want to prevent gatecrashers. When you hire a security guard, you can provide them with a guest list. Or, you can provide them with serial numbers for tickets to reduce the risk of forgery. The guards can cross-reference who is trying to gain entry to prevent gatecrashers.

Meet Requirements

Even if someone holds a ticket for your event, they may not meet the overall requirements for gaining entry. If you have a dress code, you can use a guard to ensure that each attendee meets it. Or, you may want to refuse entry to anyone who appears to be quite drunk. Guards can also highlight anyone in the queue who is behaving in an aggressive manner and is likely to cause problems once inside.

Provide Reassurance

Anyone who attends an event needs reassurance that they're going to remain safe. Even if your security guards don't need to use their skills, having them present demonstrates that you take the safety of attendees seriously. It also gives them somewhere to go if they need assistance. For example, if someone injures themselves they can go to the guard for advice on where to seek help. To ensure your guards are effective at handling inquiries, make sure you provide them with instructions on where everything is and how guests can access certain facilities.

Crowd Control

A guard's duty doesn't end once everyone is inside. They can also play a role in ensuring the event runs smoothly. Crowd control is especially important. It can prevent injuries and stop fatalities in extreme cases. If you're hosting a concert or another event with a live audience, use a guard to ensure the crowd behaves and doesn't surge.

After finding a security guard for hire, make sure they hold the right qualifications. You should also outline your expectations to them so that they can give feedback on whether they're able to assist.
